We pay the price!
Was watching TV and there came a short episode of 5-6 minutes in which a person questioned the high taxes in US...
He said that for the sake of deterrence, America had built nuclear capability capable of wiping out the entire planet. Why does one need that kind of capability - is beyond comprehension!
US Army has 21 stealth bombers - each of which cost upto 1.5 billion USD. Had they bought one plane less, they could have wiped out poverty, illetracy from a whole nation in Africa...
The army has numerous tankers and they are continuing to amass many more and in today's scenario, many of these are outdated - and just maintaing them costs billions of dollars
And it went on to submarines, military forces etc...
The essence was "Mindless spending on arms and ammunition in the name of National security" and who paid for these - the People...
Things are not much different in India too...

The US is sufferening from an acute disorder referred to as the GLOBAL WATCHDOG SYNDROME! and the best part about this syndrome is that even though the name suggets otherwise, the only thing that concerns the US is its ouwn betterment...now whether or not the comman man gets crushed in the process is not on the list of concerns...

They think they are the Big Brother and all this terrorism has been perperated by them...
It is like a game - you create the situation and then solve it. After all they need some playground to practise - so they have Iraq, Afghanistan etc... for the same..

Well I disagree. In India we are living in a constant state of alertness to thwart the forces which is out to shatter this country to pieces. It is economically draining but Kargil is a reminder that we cannot retire th guns.
But I do agree that Stealth Bombers are totally unnecessary unless the US is expecting an alien invasion.

Silverline: To some extent what you say is true - but we too waste a lot of our money - in buying outdated stuff
